Your photoshoot

Most people have access to cameras on their phones, but it’s not every day you have your photo taken by an actual photographer. So to help with nerves or uncertainty, I wanted to let you know what to expect from a session with me.

What to expect

All my photo shoots are informal. Lots of people describe our sessions as like meeting up with an old friend. I like you and your family to be as relaxed as possible, so a few days before your session I’ll ask what gets you and your family smiling.

I’ll document the fun and laughter as it appears in front of me, snapping away catching those special moments. We’ll walk and explore, play games or just sit and enjoy the surroundings. I’ll always ask if there are any particular shots you have in mind and will try my best to get these.

FAQs

Newborn FAQ

How will I know when to book my newborn session with you?

As soon as you can! I usually book whilst you are still pregnant. This allows me to ensure the availability for around your due date to ensure flexibility for your baby’s arrival. I pencil-in 3 different dates around your due date. These sessions are usually when baby is under 15 days old.

How should I prepare/bring for my photography shoot of my baby?

On booking, I send you a session information form. This details what to expect from the session and tips on how to prepare your baby.

Cake Smash FAQ

Can I purchase more digitals?

Yes you can. The gallery includes a shopping basket and you may add any extras which you like. Photographs are priced £15-25 per digital image. It may be cheaper to purchase the larger package though depending on how many images you would like.

On-Location FAQ

What should we wear during our photo shoot?

Days leading up to your session it’s important to think about what you’ll be wearing, so as a rough guide here are a few pointers:

  • Avoid strong stripes, heavily branded or character clothing

  • Co-ordinate don’t match

  • Dress according to the season/weather. We can shake things up a bit with some funky boots, hats or scarfs on an autumn afternoon or a big summer hat for the warm summer sun.

Neutral tones always work well and using no more than 3 different colours that match does too. You can bring a change of outfit, a bright umbrella, different clips and accessories - basically anything you like.

What should I bring to the photo shoot?

Drinks, snacks, tissues and maybe a hair brush (just incase!) If there’s a special something you’d like to bring for the photographs, you’re welcome to bring them too.

What if it rains on my photoshoot?

If jumping in puddles isn’t for you, we can always rearrange your session. Your deposit secures a date from booking for 6 months. Please bare this in mind and send me your availability to rearrange as soon as you can.

What if my child is really shy?

That’s absolutely fine, lots of children are shy and it’s perfectly natural. I’ll work to their pace and am happy to go along with any ideas you may have up your sleeve to bring them out of their shell. I always bring props with me to my shoot, so I may have just the thing to makes them smile.

When will I receive my photographs?

Depending on your order and my workload, I aim to have your photographs with you within 1-3 weeks. Prints and special orders may take longer depending on when/what you’ve ordered.
